Jack's Story
Good day all, The event was held on the 05/04/2003 and the meeting point was at Projet Kiosk near to the Gombak toll plaza - 0830 hrs. On that day , you could see a lots of two doors car - so called a sport car. BMW Z3, MX Miata,Hyundai Coupe,Fiat Coupe, Fiat Punto Cabriolet and other nice cars and not forgetting the mighty Minis and BMW Mini look alike Kelisa. As usual , our organiser CE will mingle around with all the drivers and I was proud to get to know all the sports car drivers . The group were divided into two groups - fast and slow cars group. The so called ' slow group ' Minis was lead by Col. ( R ) Zaki with his red fast mini ( even though the sport cars owner really thought that this car is slow ). Followed by other minis and Kelisa behind heading towards Ampang ( Col . Zaki was taking the Ampang way , passing by Melawati and Ampang Jaya ). The rest of the sports car were still at the Projet as they are driving fast car. Out of sudden , I had rcvd a call from Mr Ismail Bahari , asking me which way that we are going and had informed him that we are heading toward Ampang and not thru Karak highway ( as per instruction/program ) by Colonel ( R ) Elias ( CE ). Later on , another call rcvd , this time from the Volvo P1800 S driver - Mr Michael Sundram. He wanted to follow Mini group as this group more friendly and reliable as the mechanic was with us ...... Mr Sam la !!!!! Once we hit the Ampang / Ulu Langat road .... there goes the blue mini with 3 legged driver - Mr Kassim. The old Clubman was very slow , together with the Volvo P1800. The rest of the minis were very far ahead at the Ulu Langat town. From there , we drove thru the long sweeping road but so bad , there were a lots of cars as this particular Sunday was a ' sembahyang ' day for the Chinese community. But once we were at Kuala Klawang hilly/sweeping croad , the Kelisa @ Mini and other Minis were going very fast and I believe that if the sport cars happen to be around , they will be left behind ....... far far .... away. How I wish those cars/drivers were with us but unfortunately they went thru Karak highway.... a long stretch without any sweeping road and not forgetting the speed trap.!!!!!!! What a waste !!!! After Kuala Klawang town , while we were driving , we saw a group of cars lead by a familiar Cooper S - Light blue metalic .... drove by our CE. And these cars were going very slow ..... cruising ..... no fun la !!!! I believe that the drivers must had been exhausted cause they had started with the highway and end up with long sweeping road and not use to this kind of road conditions. Not like other Mini nuts... tough and veteran ..... The moral of the story is ..... Never ever underestimate Mini cars/drivers as these people are really nutsssssssss. See you guys on other trip. Thanks/rgds, Jack |
